Mills of Sussex County

The Delaware Department of Transportation, as part of the Bridge 918 replacement project (see the draft report abstract), has developed a GIS based system for all the known and possible mills in Sussex County. This is an open-ended project and as more mills are located in Sussex County they can be added to the database. Each mapped mill location has attached to it some additional detail including it's possible date of operation, type of mill, the hundred in which it is located, and quad the location came from. To see the detail information, click on a point. In areas where there are multiple points, zoom in to clearly show the point.

The final report will be posted in the future. To see additional reports with information on mills in Sussex County, Delaware, please visit our report search page and select mills category. When the search results appear, click on the Sussex County tab.
