Kiamensi Road Bridge (BR 1-652)

Project Limits:

200 feet east and west of bridge

Project Need:

There is significant corrosion at the waterline with 100% section loss at the ends. The existing pipes are structurally deficient and were selected by the Pontis Bridge Management System for work. The bridge currently ranks 2nd out of 1,399 on the Department's 2009 bridge deficiency list (via the bridge management program).

Project Overview:

This project will replace the existing corrugated metal pipes with a concrete box culvert, reconstruct the roadway approaches, and place riprap in the stream for scour protection. Curb and drainage inlets and pipes will be placed on the north side of the road to correct an existing drainage issue. Also, sidewalk will be constructed on the north side to connect the existing sidewalks that abruptly end on Clyde and Meadowbrook Avenues.

Project Schedule (New)

Design Phase:

Design work was completed in June, 2010.

Construction Phase:

Construction began on October 18, 2010. Due to the weather, work has been suspended and should resume in early to mid March. Construction should be complete by the end of April.
